The Cat's Meow

Perhaps you're not a cat  person. However, I am. Okay, so I'm an animal person and love every one! Yes, even alligators and sharks! Though I would keep a respecful distance from both.
If you are not, however, a cat person, I give you fair warning: This post is about cats.
Specifically me and my sister's cats!
The other night my sister and I were having a conversation via cell phone and she told me a rather funny story about her, her husband, and her cat. Her husband isn't that fond of cats and, after a hard day of not working, fell asleep on the sofa. To give a little background, my sister's furry friend loves to sleep...on her head. Or her daughter's head, whichever one is handiest.
Given this, the cat apparently thought her husband's head looked rather comfy at this moment and decided to take a nap on his.
After a while, he woke up and found something on his head. Not knowing what it was he attempted to sit up. My sister took umbrage as this might upset and hurt the cat.
"No, you'll hurt her." she said.
He reached up and found a furry creature there.
Appalled that it was the cat, he set it down, then proceeded to climb the stairs for bed. Not only this, but to get away from the cat.
My sister told me that the cat looked at the tv, then at her, before proceeding to crawl in her lap for some petting, not terribly upset by this rejection.
Five minutes later, the cat went upstairs.
Curious, my sister followed a minute later and found her husband fast asleep, the cat lying on his side.
Apparently, the cat got the message about not napping on his head, but thought it would be more than acceptable to sleep on my brother-in-law's side.
What is even more amusing is that my cat apparently took some ideas from my phone conversation. Unknown to me, of course.
That night, I let both my kitties, Miss Priss and Babe, sleep inside. Though they are mostly outside cats, the cooler weather prompts them to join me at night where it's warm.
My cat has never, in the three years I've had her, slept anywhere but on my chest or on my side. However, the same night after this conversation with my sister, she decided to sleep on my head!
So, the moral of this story is: Beware! Your pet might be listening to your conversations. Worse, might be getting ideas!

So, if you have pets, do they sleep with you? Where are their favorite places to sleep? Do you have a funny story about your pet? If not, have your friends or family related some amusing tale to you about their pets?

Please leave a comment! I would love to hear it!

  2. Hey, Jayde! Thanks for coming over!
Oh, I know. My cat always tickles me with her whiskers at night, but I don't have the heart to kick her out, hehe. And, yes, you're right. Can't help but love them!
